About MainReads
MainReads is a public reference directory and discovery index designed to catalog freely accessible educational books, academic publications, technical documentation, and research papers published across external repositories on the World Wide Web.
Purpose and Mission
Our objective is to make scholarly, technical, and informational PDF documents easy to discover, cite, and reference through structured bibliographic metadata, stable permalinks, and subject classification.
Cataloging Methodology
MainReads serves as an index and discovery platform:
- We record metadata including document titles, authors, disciplines, file formats, and source origins.
- We do not host or alter the original content of external documents. Links direct users to original publication repositories and external servers.
- Documents remain the sole property and copyright of their respective authors, institutional publishers, and repository hosts.
Technology & Standards
The catalog is built on semantic server-side PHP and SQLite architecture adhering to RFC standards, with zero bloated frontend frameworks or tracking systems.
