Abstract

This chapter will explore the complex world of cybersecurity and its surrounding culture. It sets out to highlight the distinctions between the two and underscore their unique characteristics. It is crucial that these differences are clarified because, although they are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct concepts. As we will see, cybersecurity focuses on protecting computer systems and sensitive information from unauthorized access. In contrast, cybersecurity culture is involved with an organization's collective attitudes, beliefs, values, and behaviors, which collectively result in customer confidence and trust. Understanding these nuances is the key to fostering a strong security culture within an organization and implementing effective cybersecurity practices.
