QUANTUM COMPUTING

Journal: Wiley eBooks • • Wiley

Abstract

Quantum computing is a revolutionary approach to computation that uses the peculiar principles of quantum mechanics, a branch of physics that describes the behaviour of particles at the microscopic level. By offering solutions that are currently beyond the reach of classical computing technologies, quantum computing promises breakthroughs in fields such as cryptography and drug discovery. One of the notable players in the quantum computing industry is IBM. They have made their quantum computers accessible via the cloud to the broader research community, fostering innovation and research in quantum computing applications. Google's quantum computing project, known as Quantum AI, claimed a major milestone by achieving quantum supremacy. In the finance sector, quantum computing could solve several significant problems as well. Financial institutions have to manage countless variables to monitor and track the state of thousands of transactions and the greater economy.
