Knowledge Brief - Formal Land Rights for Women in the Lao PDR
Overview & Synopsis
This knowledge brief summarizes the current situation regarding women’s formal land ownership in Laos, particularly among different ethno-linguistic groups, and provides recommendations for strengthening women’s rights through systematic land registration processes. The brief does not assess women’s land rights in the various customary or informal systems that exist, or the role of women in household-level decisions that affect land which legally belongs to the women.
