A liberal arts education, the central core of a university education, provides critical thinking skills and understanding of all aspects of life--important requirements for lifelong learning and adaptation in our rapidly changing world, yet often overlooked by the private sector. Accordingly, Canada's higher education associations call for increased government investment in the core operating funding of Canada's universities. (SV)
