Supportive Practices in Teacher Education: Finding out What Pre-Service Teachers Know about Teaching, Learning, and Community, through Purposeful and Creative Assessment.
Overview & Synopsis
This paper is a look into an authentic assessment practice for preservice teachers. The class was a teacher education class in Classroom Management that many pre-service teachers take in the education field and in teacher education programs seeking licensure. The instructor chose two exceptional student papers to model what the assignment was about. The conclusions that came from this assignment were: students learned about themselves, schools, children, and the learning community. The students were reflective on various levels as this project allowed them the freedom to synthesize their own ideas.
