Life-Centering Education.
Overview & Synopsis
This book examines the topic of community education and its potential application to the curricula of American schools. The authors focus on the need for significant curriculum change, suggesting that the life processes and concerns of people should become the common core of systematic education. Much of the book is devoted to establishing a historical and conceptual framework for community education and life-centered curricula, although two chapters deal with pragmatic ways and means of facilitating this type of major curriculum change.
