Giro copernicano de la literatura: órbitas entre ciencia, literatura y arte
Overview & Synopsis
The Copernican Revolution in Literature brings together six essays that explore how science, literature, and art intersect in writing, imagination, and everyday life. The first chapter introduces the “Lab Lit” genre and the experiences of a laboratory where real science becomes narrative material. The second chapter proposes “literaturization” as a tool for recognizing ways of reading, writing, and speaking through the lens of literature, literariness, and literalness. The third chapter examines the historical links between art and science and shows how both fields create images of the world and seek to captivate our gaze. The fourth chapter applies chaos theory to everyday scenes to understand the unpredictable scope of a word, an act, or a decision. The fifth chapter reconstructs, based on medical archives, the conceptions of delirium associated with smallpox in Bogotá. The sixth chapter traces the life of Thomas Wiggins, a blind, enslaved African American pianist whose genius challenged the notions of normality in his time. This book invites us to think of knowledge as a sensory, narrative, and deeply human experience.
