Radiative heat transfer measurements at small scales in systems involving several bodies
Overview & Synopsis
We present measurements of small-scale radiative heat transfer of a glass microsphere immersed in a thermal bath facing three different planar substrates (SiO₂, SiC, and Au), or another glass microsphere, under vacuum, with different temperatures imposed within the system. We reveal many-body contributions and a subtle competition between near-field and far-field heat transfer.
