Les élèves en prise avec l’orthographe du français : ce qu’ils font, ce qu’ils pensent, ce qu’ils apprennent
Overview & Synopsis
Students engaged with French spelling: what they do, what they think, what they learn. We focus in this contribution on the spelling practiced by the students, their knowledge of the system and the evolution of this knowledge. We first give a (non-exhaustive) overview of recent work carried out from kindergarten to adulthood. Then we discuss the means we give ourselves to apprehend, evaluate and develop the skills of students. We are also interested in the linguistic units that the students manipulate and the means that the researchers use to evaluate and better support learning... without forgetting the text which is at the heart of the objective aimed at, namely the improvement of its spelling quality. We end with three questions that open up work perspectives.
